Aston Villa need more fan involvement after image posted online creates ‘uproar’
We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…
Aston Villa need more fan involvement with the design of the club’s new badge after an image posted online has created “uproar”, according to Ty Bracey.
The design was registered as a trademark with the UK government in December and will be Villa’s second new crest in the space of two years when it comes into force at the start of the next campaign.
Although the badge has yet to be formally unveiled, it is understood to be the design presented at a recent meeting of the club’s fan advisory board (FAB), with an image being leaked by a fan-run Villans page on Twitter on 3 January.
Bracey believes a lot of supporters have been left unhappy by the situation despite admitting that the design just needs “a few tweaks” to get to where it needs to be.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “They have trademarked four or five images, but there has been a lot of uproar online.
“I think there needs to be more fan involvement with this type of stuff because there have been a lot of people who are not happy. I think collectively everyone is a little bit upset with it.

“But it’s close to where it needs to be, it just needs a few tweaks. The shadowing behind the line isn’t the best. It’s a weird one.
“But at the same, you kind of think, let’s relax until we officially know what’s happening.”
