‘Silly money’ Aston Villa bid needed to sign Crysencio Summerville from Leeds United in January
Villa News is delighted to welcome aboard our brilliant new columnist Bryan King, the former goalkeeper who spent over 10 years as a scout at Aston Villa and 28 years in total in first-team scouting roles. Bryan also spent six years on Tottenham’s recruitment team and eight years scouting at Everton…
Bryan King has insisted that Aston Villa would need to spend “silly money” to sign Crysencio Summerville from Leeds United in the January transfer window.
The ex-Aston Villa scout admitted it would be down to the Whites, not the player, with the winger likely still on Premier League wages at Elland Road.
It comes after Fabrizio Romano reported on 25 December that Villa were one of numerous clubs tracking the winger, but Leeds had no intention to sell him next month.
“At this moment in time, Leeds are challenging for a place in the Premier League,” he exclusively told Villa News.
“I think Leeds are certainly going to be in the top six of the Championship at the end of the season which may give them either automatic promotion or play-off chance.
“I wouldn’t want to sell any of my players at this moment in time if I were Leeds United, you’re six months away unless it’s silly money, then of course, you can make an exception.

“These players invariably sign contracts which take them through the whole season, now whether they leave or don’t is not up to them as they’re under contract, it’s up to the club and if they feel it’s the right move because they’d get more money.
“I would imagine he is still on Premier League wages, so I would hold onto the boy until the end of the season and assess the situation then.”
