Aston Villa injury news: Doctor issues Emiliano Buendia update as Emi Martinez shares image
We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Aston Villa...
Aston Villa ace Emiliano Buendia is loading the lower body more as he’s looking to return from a significant knee ligament injury, per Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that it’s premature to put a timeline on his return until footage emerges of him doing movements as that’s a better way to gauge how far along he is.
Emi Martinez took to Instagram recently to share an image of his compatriot who’s working hard behind the scenes to return to full fitness.
Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News:
“He’s about four months into his recovery and looks to be loading the lower body more and he’s doing a barbell lunge in that picture.
“Hard to say how far along he is until we see him doing movements in different planes which are side to side and diagonal and they will give more information on his recovery pace.
“However, given the usual setback of a serious knee ligament injury, he’s still a few months away from returning to full training.“

The 27-year-old was a pivotal part of Unai Emery’s plans last season as he played every single game in the Premier League.
He made 27 starts and another 11 appearances off the bench and played a remarkable 2423 minutes in the top flight, per WhoScored.
As things stand, it seems unlikely that the Argentina international will be back in action before the end of the season.
In other Aston Villa news, a Sky Sports pundit has savaged a first-team player and called him “Foolish” after what he did recently.
