Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn has emerged as one of the first names on the team sheet because of his off-field habits, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert reacted as an article was written about the Scotland international overcoming woes to become one of the stars under Unai Emery.
He has gushed over his discipline behind the scenes and the effort that goes unnoticed by the fans.
Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News: “It’s full credit to him as he’s extremely disciplined off the pitch.
“Fans only see the on pitch but it’s all set up by what happens off the pitch and the work players put in off it.
“It’s all about consistent habits and he’s put in tremendous effort.“
McGinn has undoubtedly become a cult hero at Villa Park and his versatility has been tremendous for Emery.
The Spaniard has deployed him on the wings, in a deep midfield and an attacking midfield role and he’s thrived all over.
In many ways, the 29-year-old embodies what Emery is trying to build at the club and thus far, it’s reaping the rewards with the club in a title challenge after half the season is over.
