Dan Bardell: Aston Villa to terminate deal as development emerges, ‘The horse has bolted’
We’re delighted to welcome Sky Sports journalist Dan Bardell as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…
Dan Bardell believes the relationship between Aston Villa and Castore will come to an end next summer despite a development emerging.
The Telegraph reported on 11 December that Villa have finally received a new shipment of shirts from the kit supplier after the club complained about a “wet-look” issue in September.
Castore promised to “address this issue as quickly as possible” after the Villans’ men’s players claimed the previous shirts became heavy and uncomfortable, while the women’s players also raised concerns.

Bardell doesn’t believe anyone has come out of the situation “smelling of roses” as the issue could have been resolved in the hotter months when the temperature had more of an impact on the shirts.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “They’ve done it after the horse has bolted really because it’s winter now.
“I haven’t really noticed that the players’ shirts are drenched with sweat because it’s really cold, so probably could’ve done with that during the hotter months of the year in all honesty.

“That relationship is going to be over at the end of the season regardless, so I just think it is what it is with the kits, no one has come out of it smelling of roses. The players certainly didn’t look like they were smelling of roses either when they were wearing the shirts.
“It’s just one of those things, it’s good that they’ve got it sorted, but long term it’s not going to be Castore and Aston Villa, it’s going to be someone else and Aston Villa.”
