Doctor issues retirement admission on Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings
We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Aston Villa...
Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings will not be retiring from professional football after his ACL rupture, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The Daily Mail took to Twitter and stated that the Englishman had sparked retirement fears ahead of a post on his social media account.
The injury expert believes that it’s all fear mongering and that the club will soon start introducing him to minor training routines.
Speaking about his injury, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News:
“He had an anterior cruciate ligament injury and reconstruction so unless he’s suffered some sort of major setback, that post sounds like fear mongering more than anything else.
“He’s roughly 3.5 months past surgery so his day-to-day will likely consist of progressive strengthening and increasing force production in the knee.
“The team might start introducing some mild rotation and side to side movement soon as well but nothing to suggest he’ll be calling it a day from football.“

The 30-year-old’s season unfortunately ended a few minutes after it started as he picked up an injury after 31 minutes against Newcastle on 12 August.
The England international started the game but had to be taken off in the first half and now spends months on the treatment table.
He is not expected to return to first-team football this season but could be in for light training ahead of May.
In other Aston Villa news, Ian Wright has waxed lyrical over a first-team player and has dubbed him “fantastic” after what he did recently.
