Aston Villa: Broadcaster reacts to ‘stupid’ talkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara comments about Matty Cash

We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…

The comments about Matty Cash by Jamie O’Hara following the Aston Villa game against Tottenham on 26 November were “stupid”, according to Ty Bracey.

The talkSPORT pundit tweeted on 28 November that he was “absolutely gutted” after Spurs midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur was ruled out for more than two months following a late tackle on him by the Villa right-back in his side’s 2-1 victory.

O’Hara said he was “fuming” about the incident as he called upon the North London club’s players to “remember” it the next time the two sides play each other.

Bracey admitted that the tackle by Cash was “reckless”, but he believes the pundit’s comments are not acceptable from a former professional footballer and someone in the media industry.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “Whether he worded it in that way or not, it’s still just not an acceptable thing in my opinion.

“Saying not to forget, as in plant one on him the next time we play Spurs is just a really stupid thing to say, especially as an ex-pro it’s not something you expect to hear from people, especially people who are in the media industry.

“It’s just not something you expect, a bit stupid I think. Don’t get me wrong, he’s gone in a little bit reckless, but he hasn’t gone to try and injure the player. I don’t believe he’s done that intentionally to hurt him.

“It was just a bad tackle, but not something that should be rambled on about as much as it has been. There’s been a lot of drama surrounding it and it’s just all got a bit out of hand.”

In other Aston Villa news, a broadcaster has shared a “scary” admission after what Richard Keys said.
