Punishment on way after ‘Ugly’ scenes at Aston Villa – BBC pundit
We’re delighted to welcome former Aston Villa full-back Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Villa Park…
Alan Hutton has insisted that punishment is likely on the way for Legia Warsaw after the “Ugly” scenes against Aston Villa in the Europa League.
46 travelling supports were charged in the end after clashing with Police which left officers and animals injured ahead of the 2-1 victory for Villa [The Guardian].
Hutton admitted that the whole situation wasn’t handled the best, but there is never a place for things to escalate as they did with families among others attending games.

“I think the whole situation probably wasn’t handled the best in terms of reading things,” he exclusively told Villa News.
“They were meant to have 2,000 tickets, then it was cut down to 1,000 and when they couldn’t get them, they were just held back and not let in.
“I understand from a fan’s point of view there is going to be some sort of frustration if you think you’re going to a game, paid the money and then you’re not allowed in, but to react the way that you do, it’s not great.

“There are families going to games and that’s not ideal, I’m sure they’ve had trouble with this before, it’s not the first time, so that leads me to think it’s one of them where they will and should end up being punished.
“You don’t want to see ugly scenes like that at any football ground.”
In other Aston Villa news, it is “done” for this central midfielder to quit Villa Park with a permanent transfer deal already agreed.
