Aston Villa exit on cards for Alex Moreno after what Lucas Digne did v Tottenham

Aston Villa are simply flying under manager Unai Emery, with the West Midlands club going strong domestically and in Europe.

But it is in the former where they are particularly shining, with Villa currently sitting fourth in the Premier League table.

Their spot in the Champions League places comes after a superb 2-1 victory away to Tottenham on Sunday (26 November).

Defensive ace Pau Torres and star striker Ollie Watkins got the goals after Giovani Lo Celso had opened the scoring for the hosts.

They deserve plenty of credit for finding the back of the net, but producing a top display in all areas was left-back Lucas Digne.

Having previously played second fiddle to Alex Moreno amid an injury to the latter, the former is now a regular on the teamsheet.

And he continued his impressive campaign against Ange Postecoglou’s men, with Digne completing 80% of his passes, two of which were key [Sofascore].

Moreover, the full-back made three tackles, two clearances and one interception during his 90 minutes on the pitch, as well as creating one big chance for his side.

It wasn’t exactly a flawless performance from Digne, who only won four of his eight ground duels and lost possession of the ball 17 times.

But he is simply undroppable under Emery, which may just force his deputy Moreno into seriously considering his future at the club.

The Spaniard has been forced to watch on from the bench this season, and will undoubtedly be frustrated at his lack of minutes.

It has been a remarkable turnaround in that area, with Moreno shining brightly at Villa at the expense of Digne not so long ago.
