Aston Villa: Ty Bracey shares ‘tough’ Unai Emery team selection issue v Tottenham, ‘It doesn’t just come down to…’
We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…
Unai Emery is in a “tough” position when it comes to his team selection for the Aston Villa game against Tottenham on Sunday (26 November), according to Ty Bracey.
The Villa boss handed summer signing Youri Tielemans his first Premier League start of the season in the 3-1 victory over Fulham on 12 November.
But the Spaniard now needs to decide whether or not the Belgian international did enough to be named in the starting lineup again at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Bracey believes the 26-year-old midfielder put in a good performance against the Cottagers, but he added that a lot more thought goes into Emery’s team selection than just form.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “There is a lot of competition in every position, but he got his opportunity and he capitalised, he had a good game. I think Emery is in a position where it’s really tough, but should you change a winning side and a winning mentality? I guess that’s down to the manager, he knows best ultimately.
“It’s a very good problem to have, so I guess we’ll see. I hope it’s the start of Tielemans’ career at Villa, he’s hungry and, obviously, the frustration comes from a good place when he’s talking about wanting more game-time.
“It’s a good attitude to have as long as you’re presenting it in the right way, are hungry to play and not throwing your toys out the pram. I think we’ll definitely see some minutes for him.

“Ultimately, it doesn’t just come down to how they played in the game before, it’s all about setup. Unai Emery is a tactician, he is an absolute master of his craft, he puts a lot of time into things and so does all the backroom staff.
“So I think it boils down to more than just form. It comes down to what weaknesses the Spurs side will have and what Tielemans has in his game to exploit that.”
