Rachel Daly sends two-word message to Alisha Lehmann as Aston Villa Women training images emerge

Aston Villa Women ace Rachel Daly has sent a two-word message on social media to her teammate Alisha Lehmann.

Both players were spotted in training, with the club having picked up their first WSL win of the season on Sunday (12 November).

A Megan Connolly own goal and Ebony Salmon secured a 2-0 victory for Carla Ward’s outfit over Bristol City Women.

Sharing images of the players during training, Lehmann wrote on Instagram: “Good day with my friends,” with her Aston Villa Women teammate Daly commenting: “My girl.”

Big win

Daly played the entire 90 minutes of the massive win at Ashton Gate at the weekend, with Lehmann forced to watch on from the bench.

The victory represented the club’s first three points of the new season, with Aston Villa Women sitting second bottom in the league table. Their recent opponents Bristol City are the only club below them, with goal difference only separating the two sides.

It was, however, a second successive win for Ward’s team, who defeated Sheffield United Women 5-0 last Wednesday (5 November) in the group stages of the FA WSL Cup.

But their league form remains a worry, with the Midlands club having won just one of their six matches so far, losing the other five.

Spirits, however, remain high in training, with Daly and Lehmann full of smiles as the club look to continue their winning run. Up next is a trip to East London outfit West Ham, with that WSL clash scheduled for Sunday (19 November).
