Ty Bracey sends ‘disappointment’ message as Aston Villa star shares Champions League verdict

We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…

There is still plenty for Aston Villa to play for despite Moussa Diaby’s admission about the club’s indifferent form away from home this season, according to Ty Bracey.

Speaking after the 2-0 defeat against Nottingham Forest on Sunday (5 November, via BirminghamLive), the French international said Villa are not ready to play in the Champions League unless they find a “solution” to win on the road.

The 24-year-old forward, who made the move to Villa Park for £50million from Bayer Leverkusen over the summer, insisted that the Villans must “improve” their game plan after winning just two of their opening six away games in the Premier League at the start of this campaign.

Bracey believes it was “disappointing” to lose at the City Ground, but he insisted that it’s nowhere near time to be writing off the club’s chances of qualifying for the Champions League just yet.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “Obviously we’re bang in form at home, but they’re the types of games where we have to be picking up points, that’s an absolute must.

“No disrespect to Forest, but they were bang up for it. I wouldn’t even say they had anything on us because it was one of those games where we dominated possession, but we just couldn’t finish our chances. But they’re the types of games where we have to pick up the points if we’re going to continue to climb up the table and compete for the Champions League places.

“The teams that get in the Champions League are the ones that consistently perform. At this standard of football, there is just no room for error. It’s just one of those things for me, where it’s disappointing but you can’t win every game, I understand that. But we’re only 11 games into the season, we’re not writing off anything yet in my opinion, we’re nowhere near that.

“There are a lot of big teams dropping points. Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool dropped some points, it does happen. That’s where we have to capitalise. If it’s teams we’re expected to lose points from, then fair enough, but we have to go out all guns blazing against teams like Forest and that’s no disrespect to them.

“It’s tough at the minute because we’re playing some really good football and the expectations are high, so the losses sting a little bit more than usual because we’re playing and doing so well.

“I wouldn’t say we can wave goodbye to anything just yet, we’re not even a third through the season. There is loads to play for, we just need to be consistent and see the same Villa every week.”
