Alan Hutton predicts Aston Villa v Fulham in Premier League showdown at Villa Park

We’re delighted to welcome former Aston Villa full-back Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Villa Park…

Alan Hutton has backed Aston Villa to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they welcome Fulham to Villa Park on Sunday.

Villa’s 2-0 loss at Nottingham Forest last week came as a surprise as Unai Emery’s men missed out on the opportunity to rise to third in the standings.

However, the Birmingham club’s home form has been impeccable this season with the Villans winning all five of their matches at Villa Park.

Fulham, on the other hand, go into the weekend’s action in 15th place and with just one win in their last six league outings.

All three of the West London club’s victories this season have been against teams below them in the table and Hutton expects his former club to continue piling the misery on Marco Silva’s side in the West Midlands at the weekend.

“They’ve won 12 home games in a row so off the back of a disappointing result [at Nottingham Forest], I expect them to win,” Hutton told Villa News.

I know Fulham can be difficult, especially at home, but at Villa Park, everyone will be up for it.

The crowd will be behind them, they’ll want to get back on track and they’ll need to prove that.

Villa will be too strong for Fulham.”

No Premier League has a better home record than the Villans this season with Emery’s men winning all five of their Villa Park fixtures and scoring 20 goals in the process.

Only league leaders Manchester City (28) and Newcastle (27) have more Premier League goals this term than the boys in claret and blue (26)

In other Aston Villa news, a £50million transfer claim has been made about Douglas Luiz amid recent speculation.
