Unai Emery has created double-figure Aston Villa ‘monster’ Ollie Watkins who now leads way in Europe

Aston Villa were back to their very best on Sunday (22 October) as they smashed West Ham United 4-1 at Villa Park.

Midfield maestro Douglas Luiz has rightfully stolen many of the headlines with his brace, but also deserving plenty of credit is star striker Ollie Watkins.

The England international is enjoying a superb season, and undoubtedly finds himself as one of the leading men in the Premier League.

Watkins proved that against the Hammers, kicking things off with an assist for Luiz’s long-range opener on the half-hour mark. The striker then took it upon himself to find the back of the net with just under 20 minutes to go as he scored a stunning solo goal.

David Moyes has had his defence well-drilled this season, but that was until they came up against Watkins and Co., with the hosts running riot in front of a joyous Villa Park.

The forward also impressed with two out of three ground duels won, one key pass and one clearance, while he could have even added to his goals tally, having missed one big chance [Sofascore].

And as per Squawka (22 October), the striker’s feats against the Hammers have had a significant impact on European football, with the 27-year-old becoming the first player in Europe’s top-five leagues to score five+ goals and provide 5+ assists in the league this season.

The publication added that Villa manager Unai Emery has “created a monster” in Watkins, who will undoubtedly add to his tallies as the months go on.

With the Midlands club also playing in the Europa League, Emery will certainly continue to hand his star striker some much-needed time on the bench, and that will allow the England ace to continue shining when the Premier League comes back around.
