Injury Expert shares if Aston Villa defender Diego Carlos to be ruled out for 3 months

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Aston Villa...

Aston Villa defender Diego Carlos is expected to come back to action a lot sooner than three months, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert reacted to the Brazilian centre-back’s recent injury setback that has kept him out since the start of September.

Unai Emery revealed at the time that he does not hope it’s a serious injury and that the 30-year-old should be back in action soon.

Speaking about his injury and potential return, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News:

Not serious can mean a multitude of things depending on who you ask and thigh injury can also mean a multitude of things depending on who you ask.

It’s hard for me to comment on that severity without more information.

“In terms of misdiagnosis, there’s always a chance but I wouldn’t expect that at this level.

“The worst case would be a grade 3 rupture which is 3+ months out but highly unlikely based on what we’ve heard thus far.

When fit, the experienced centre-back is expected to be among the first names on the team sheet for the Villans.

However, he missed the majority of last season through injury and already has been out for a few weeks this time around.

Unai Emery will be relieved that it’s not too serious a concern and he will be looking for him back soon.

In other Aston Villa news, a senior attacker is now a doubt for the upcoming games after he suffered a Grade 3 muscle tear.
