Aston Villa: Shock over ‘under the radar’ Ezri Konsa development
We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…
Ezri Konsa should have been called up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad having “definitely warranted” his Aston Villa contract extension, according to Ty Bracey.
While appearing for England’s youth sides, the 25-year-old has been frequently snubbed by the Three Lions’ boss and is yet, if ever, to earn his senior debut for his country.
Elsewhere, his impressive performances at Villa have seen him earn a much-deserved contract extension. Despite his previous contract running until 2026, Villa opted to tie him down for even longer in a clear indication of their appreciation for the Englishman.

Bracey is delighted that Konsa has committed his future to Aston Villa but expressed his shock that his excellent form over the last year has failed to be rewarded by Southgate.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “Konsa is doing everything that is required of him. He does go a little bit under the radar, he really is solid.
“I’m shocked he’s not had that England call-up because he is a talent. He just goes so under the radar. Obviously, we now have a lot of depth in those positions, so there may be times when he’s not playing.
“But Villa have shown how important he is by signing him down to a longer contract, which is great for us. It’s most definitely warranted.”
