Aston Villa attacker Bertrand Traore chance to be fit v Chelsea revealed by Injury Expert

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Aston Villa...

Aston Villa attacker Bertrand Traore is expected to miss the game against Legia Warsaw but might be fit in time for Chelsea, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The Villans travel to Poland to take on Legia in the Europa League on Thursday (21 September) before their trip to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Traore has not started a game this season due to a muscle tear and he was last seen in action in August during a Europa League qualifier.

Speaking about his injury and lack of match fitness, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News: “The key steps will be completing full training with the team, then multiple trainings without any adverse responses, and then finally bounce matches, to get his fitness levels back.

The mid-week game might be too soon but he should be back at the weekend.

Villa are well stacked in that department so it makes no sense to rush him back either.

On 15 September, Unai Emery said that the Villa attacker was close to making a return without defining when he’ll be back.

He’s featured just nine minutes in the Premier League this season so is severely lacking match sharpness.

Last season, the Burkina Faso international was out on loan at Istanbul Basaksehir where he scored two goals in 12 league appearances.

In other Aston Villa news, a senior attacker is now a doubt for the upcoming games after he suffered a Grade 3 muscle tear.
