Leon Bailey investigation not ideal with Aston Villa set to take action too

We’re delighted to welcome former Aston Villa full-back Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Villa Park…

Alan Hutton has insisted that Leon Bailey being investigated by police is not ideal after an altercation following Aston Villa smashing Everton 4-0.

The Daily Mail reported on Monday 21 August that the Jamaican was under investigation after being accused of assaulting a fan following the convincing win.

Hutton admitted that the club will be completing their own investigation, and urged Bailey to concentrate on replicating his scintillating form moving forward.

“It’s not ideal,” he exclusively told Villa News.

“We don’t know what happened, anything could have been said or done, it’s unfair to speculate.

We will have to wait and see what comes out, but I’m sure Aston Villa will be investigating it themselves.

The bottom line is, I think, he played at the weekend and he was excellent, and if he continues to play that way, then he will be in the starting XI. That’s what he needs to focus on and everything else will take care of itself.”

This is not the first example of this sort of thing happening, with Eric Cantona being the best example, and even Cristiano Ronaldo against Everton in the last couple of years.

It is said to have been caught on CCTV so this matter should and hopefully will be sorted as soon as possible, with matters on the pitch heating up.

In other Aston Villa news, the club’s received a kick in the teeth over this £8.5million transfer reveal.
