Aston Villa ready to activate £25m Tyler Adams clause for Leeds United transfer
Aston Villa are waiting for an answer from Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams about his next career move as they remain keen on a move for the USMNT captain, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper reported on its website on Wednesday (2 August) that Unai Emery’s side are ready to pay the relegation release clause of around £25m, with other clubs interested.
Adams has been recovering from Hamstring surgery since March but has several potential suitors in the Premier League and beyond who remain hopeful of securing his services in the coming season.

Discussing Villa’s interest in the 24-year-old, Simon Jones writes: “Aston Villa are waiting on an answer from Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams over his next move as Chelsea wait in the wings.
“Nottingham Forest, Brighton, West Ham and, in recent weeks, Chelsea have all asked about the 24-year-old, who has been working on his fitness following hamstring surgery in March.
“Villa have already signed Youri Tielemans but admire the energy and dynamism Adams brings to a team. They also know that Douglas Luiz is a potential target for Tottenham, while Burnley have asked about their 20-year-old midfielder Aaron Ramsey.”
An excellent option in the middle
While Leeds struggled for much of last season, Adams was the main bright spark at an otherwise dingy Elland Road, so it is no real surprise that so many Premier League clubs are queuing up to secure his services.
Villa will not want to lose either Luiz or Ramsey this summer, and you’d have to imagine both players would want to be part of the upcoming European campaign, but even if both remain at Villa Park, Adams should be considered.

It is going to be a congested season for Emery’s side this year, with more games than a lot of Villa’s players will have played before. Therefore, strength in depth and ability to rotate the side has never been more crucial.
The signing of Adams not only provides depth but also experience in European football and leadership, having been captain of his national side, a characteristic no team can have too much of at their disposal.
If Adams can get himself fit, he would be an excellent signing for Villa. While a move to Stamford Bridge will likely be a more attractive proposition, he would be a key player in Emery’s Villa midfield, a role not guaranteed under Mauricio Pochettino.
In other Aston Villa news, Emery’s side still reportedly hold an interest in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
