Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain deemed ‘absolutely class’ as free agent linked to Aston Villa transfer

We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain would make a quality addition to Aston Villa due to his ability and European experience despite his injury record, according to Ty Bracey.

The former Liverpool midfielder left Merseyside after his contract expired and has been linked to a host of clubs including Brentford, Besiktas and a Saudi side [The Mirror]. Villa meanwhile are also reportedly interested in the 30-year-old’s services [Sky Sports] as the club look to add further midfield quality after signing Youri Tielemans, another free agent.

However, the former England regular has missed 88 games for Liverpool through injury, most notably his cruciate ligament rupture that saw him sidelined for nearly a year [Transfermarkt].

However, Bracey has backed the former Arsenal star to make a career comeback at Aston Villa, claiming that Emery could get the best out of him. His combination of quality, European experience and dressing-room presence makes him a valuable asset at Villa Park, especially on a free transfer.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “He’s experienced in European football. On his day he is absolutely class, it’s just that he has not got the greatest injury record.

“I’d definitely take him on a free. He’s one of those players whose experience would be great in the dressing room and he should count as homegrown talent.

“He’s someone I wouldn’t mind seeing come off the bench at all. There’s a player in there still.

“Obviously Klopp and Emery are different managers, and every manager has their own style. But I’m convinced that anyone Emery brings into the side and anyone he wants in his team, he can get the best out of. I really do mean that.”

In other Aston Villa news, Sky Sports journalist Dan Bardell has tipped an Emery-admired youth star to make it big at Villa Park.
