Alan Hutton has heard that Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz has kicked onto another level in pre-season as transfer speculation continues to swirl.
The Sun reported on 20 July that Arsenal were ready to hijack any Tottenham bid to sign the Brazilian star, with a potential tussle on the cards in North London.
Hutton admitted that Villa need these types of players to stay to build something special, rather than seeing their best players leave every single summer.
“I hope not,” he exclusively told Villa News.
“He was the Player of the Year last season, and from what I hear, he’s kicked on again in pre-season and done really well again.
“You want these guys to stay, you don’t want to be building something special and then all of a sudden your talented players start to get picked off as it is not ideal. I want to see him stay, obviously.”
NSWE have started the summer with a bang with big money being spent already on Youri Tielemans, Pau Torres and Moussa Diaby as they continue their progression.
This will hopefully prove to players such as Luiz that Unai Emery is the manager to play under with the squad only getting better with bigger names every year.
Fingers crossed, but Luiz is going nowhere.
