Aston Villa land absolute gem in Moussa Diaby as official Bundesliga stats revealed
Aston Villa are making serious moves in the summer transfer window, with Moussa Diaby the latest star to join Unai Emery’s side.
As confirmed by the official Aston Villa website (22 July), the French international has joined for an undisclosed fee, and has already linked up with his new teammates on their pre-season tour of the USA.
He makes the switch to the Premier League on the back of a superb season with Bayer Leverkusen, where the winger registered 14 goals and 11 assists in all competitions.
The 24-year-old had a particularly good Bundesliga campaign, with the attacker top scoring for his club with nine goals, as per the official Bundesliga website.
Moreover, his eight assists were level with the likes of Bayern Munich legend Thomas Muller and new Liverpool man Dominik Szoboszlai, who shone for RB Leipzig.
Diaby placed fifth meanwhile for shots taken (78), level with Eintracht Frankfurt ace Randal Kolo Muani.
His superb sprinting capabilities were also on show throughout the season, with the winger registering 865 sprints, placing him sixth in the league, reaching a maximum speed of 36.52 km/h, placing him fourth in the league in this regard, as per the official Bundesliga website.
And if his last Bayer Leverkusen match is anything to go by, Villa fans really can begin to get excited for the new season to get up and running.
The France international made his Leverkusen farewell against VfL Bochum in May, and despite his club losing 3-0, Diaby went out on an individual high.
As per the official Bundesliga website, the attacker shone at both ends of the pitch, registering a match-high of three shots on goal, as well as winning eight of his duels.
Moreover, he registered a total of 22 sprints throughout his 90 minutes on the pitch, covering a total distance of 8.8km.
