Pundit predicts Jacob Ramsey Aston Villa season after pre-season-ending injury
We’re delighted to welcome Aston Villa podcaster Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…
Ty Bracey has backed Jacob Ramsey to continue his progression at Aston Villa despite injury potentially delaying his start to the season.
While on international duty with the Euro-winning England under-21s, Ramsey broke his metatarsal during a 1-0 victory over Portugal which may cause the 22-year-old to miss Villa’s first month of Premier League football [Daily Mail].
Ramsey is set to miss out on all of Villa’s pre-season matches too, meaning he could lag behind the rest of the squad regarding fitness and match sharpness.
However, Ty Bracey has claimed Ramsey can still have an impactful season despite his injury. Bracy claims that no one’s spot in the team is secure next season and the youngster’s excellence last campaign will earn him a chance again.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “I don’t think anybody is indispensable, but he’s crafting his game and he’s really starting to come together. We’re really seeing a player in Ramsey.
“He loves Villa, he’s playing some great football and he’s really important to us. Of course, it’s going to be hard coming back from injury and getting into the team, but I don’t think anyone’s place is cemented.
“We know there’s a player in there and so does Unai, that’s why he’s featured so heavily last season. He’s someone I think will feature heavily.“
Ramsey has been a mainstay at Villa Park for the last two seasons with six goals per season. As a homegrown academy lad, Villa fans will naturally want him to do well despite such a setback.
In other Aston Villa news, Bracey makes the claim that new signing Pau Torres will be a “massive” addition to Emery’s squad in their hunt for Europe.
