Sian Rogers departs Aston Villa Women for full Charlton Athletic move
Sian Rogers has signed for Charlton Athletic on a full-time basis after departing Aston Villa Women.
The goalkeeper spent last season on loan with the Addicks, who confirmed the news on their official website, in the Women’s Championship after falling out of favour at Villa.
Rogers has now penned a one-year deal with Charlton, who finished fourth in the table last season.

“Obviously when it came about that Karen (Hills) wanted me to stay it was something that I really did consider after my loan spell,” she told Charlton’s official website.
“I really did enjoy it here and it played a massive part in me coming back to the club, and I am happy to be back!”
A no-brainer
At one point in time, Sian Rogers was a mainstay between the sticks for Aston Villa Women and was influential in helping the club gain promotion to the Women’s Super League in the 2019-20 season.
It was during that campaign that Rogers won the Golden Glove award but she lost her spot with Hannah Hampton taking the gloves.
Hampton will ply her trade at Chelsea next season, but Netherlands goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar – who is in the Dutch squad for the Women’s World Cup – recently penned a three-year contract to join on a free transfer from FC Twente for Carla Ward’s side (official website).

For Rogers, she remains at a club where she will be the number one and get plenty of game time and, who knows, even be part of a side who could get promoted next season.
Realistically the opportunities to get the gloves back at Villa were not forthcoming. Joining Charlton on a full-time basis is a no-brainer for her in her career.
In other Aston Villa news, a first bid is ready for Bayer Leverkusen ace Moussa Diaby.
