Ferran Torres makes new transfer admission as Aston Villa links continue

Aston Villa target Ferran Torres has reaffirmed his desire to stay at Barcelona, while admitting that he doesn’t know what the future holds as transfer rumours swirl, as per Mundo Deportivo.

The Barcelona forward left the door open to a possible summer transfer, refusing to rule out an exit as he stated that football takes many turns. Villa boss Unai Emery is thought to be keen on Torres, having worked with him during their time at Valencia.

Torres admitted that he is unaware of his club’s stance with regard to letting him go this summer as he has had his phone on aeroplane mode over the summer break, mentioning that he would turn it back on when pre-season begins on 10 July.

Torres has spoken about his relationship with Emery previously, labelling him a “benchmark” and expressing that the club did things very well under his stewardship. Mundo Deportivo writes that a move back to England would be a good move, as he is still held in high regard following his spell at Manchester City.

If he is available, Villa need to capitalise

The transfer status and availability of Torres is still largely unknown, and Villa will likely have to wait along with their fans until Barcelona begin pre-season training to find out more on his situation. Should he be made available, he should be the top name on Villa’s list.

He fits the trend of Villa’s current transfer market activity, with the club having been linked to other Spaniards Nico Williams and Marco Asensio in Torres’ position, while the club have agreed a deal for Pau Torres, another man who worked previously under Emery, to join the club.

Mundo Deportivo were correct with regard to the Spaniard’s status in England. His spell with Manchester City proved that he is capable in the Premier League, after scoring nine goals in 28 appearances (19 of which were starts) during his time in Manchester.

He represents the best option for Villa’s winger search, having previously been linked to Hirving Lozano from Napoli and Harvey Barnes from Leicester.
