Aston Villa transfer news as loan-to-buy move on cards for Barcelona star Ferran Torres
Aston Villa are considering a move for Barcelona’s 23-year-old attacker Ferran Torres, with a loan deal being discussed, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The report says Villa are considering an approach which would see Torres join on an initial loan deal, with an option to buy for £21.5m, but Barcelona are opposed to letting him leave on loan, and would also need a higher fee if they were to let the Spaniard go.
It goes on to state that Torres himself does not want a change of scenery, but the economic needs of Barcelona, combined with the player’s demand for consistent playing time, could see the situation change at any time, and that a deal cannot be ruled out.

This would be another fantastic signing by Villa
However difficult the situation may seem, with a lot of moving parts and situations that would need to align for the deal to take place, it cannot be any doubt that Torres would be a brilliant signing at Villa Park.
The deal fits with the trend of Villa links this summer, with Unai Emery and newly-appointed director of football Monchi keen on bringing Spanish players to the club, having previously been linked to Marco Asensio and Nico Williams, while a deal for Pau Torres is almost complete.

The Spanish winger of course has Premier League experience, having spent time under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, and managed seven goals from 24 league appearances in the 2020/21 season – the highest goal tally of his career.
Torres would likely be utilised as a winger at Villa, as he was at City since this is a position the Villans have targeted frequently in this transfer window.
In other Aston Villa news, the club have rolled the dice by letting exciting youth player leave on loan.
