Bayern Munich twist emerges in Aston Villa bid to sign Pau Torres – Fabrizio Romano
Aston Villa could face competition from Bayern Munich in their bid to sign Villarreal centre-back Pau Torres, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon (21 June), Romano reported that Bayern have been told what it will take to prise the 26-year-old defender away from Villarreal this summer.
It is understood that Bayern are looking at Torres as a potential replacement for Lucas Hernandez in case the Frenchman leaves the Allianz Arena this summer.
Romano adds that with Villa, Unai Emery is a “big fan” of Torres after working alongside him at Villarreal between 2020 and 2022.
Worrying
Villa need to get a shuffle on if they want to sign Torres because Bayern’s interest in the Spain international is a bit of a concern.
Of course, Villa will have the ability to lure in Torres because they can promise him European football, the chance to work with a manager who he’s shone with previously, big money and a shot at playing in the best domestic league in the world.
However, Bayern Munich are, quite simply, Bayern Munich.
It seems as though the Bundesliga champions’ potential move for Torres depends on the future of Hernandez.

It’s been rumbling on for quite some time but Paris Saint-Germain reportedly have an agreement in principle with Hernandez to sign him from Bayern Munich.
L’Equipe reported on 25 May that the France international has agreed on a move to PSG but so far, it doesn’t seem like an agreement is close between the Ligue 1 giants and Bayern Munich.
Villa need to be quick in case there’s a breakthrough on that front because it probably wouldn’t take much for Torres to opt for a move to Bavaria over B6.
In other Aston Villa news, big-name signings are now on the cards after a behind-the-scenes arrival at Villa Park.
