Aston Villa defender Diego Carlos first-team return hinges on two conditions – Injury Expert
We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Aston Villa...
Diego Carlos’ first-team Aston Villa return hinges on a couple of things as he’s been out for a number of months, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert states that while the Brazilian defender has returned to action for the Under-21s, he is not yet ready to be back for the senior side.
In his view, it depends on how the centre-back feels during and after the games and also how he’s been responding in training.

Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News exclusively, “He’s now been out nearly seven months since his rupture and the typical return timeline you see with pro footballers is seven to nine months.
“It’s hard to say how soon he will return because that depends on how he responds to the reserve games and how he’s been responding the entire way.
“There’s no set number of games and minutes, it really depends on the player and their individual variables.”

Carlos was one of the marquee signings in the summer with Steven Gerrard at the helm and began life at Villa Park on a sour note.
After featuring against Bournemouth and Everton in August, he ruptured his Achilles tendon and has been missing in action ever since.
There remains hope that the 30-year-old is back in action before the end of the season.
In other Aston Villa news, a senior player may never feature for the club again after recent news emerges, making a summer exit very much on the cards.
