Aston Villa speaking to Villarreal about Arnaut Danjuma transfer – Fabrizio Romano
Aston Villa are “speaking” to Villarreal winger Arnaut Danjuma over a possible transfer to Villa Park in the January transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The 25-year-old was signed by Unai Emery while he was manager of Villarreal in 2021 and has clocked up 26 goal involvements in 51 games since.
Danjuma was a pivotal figure in the Yellow Submarine’s miraculous run to the Champions League semi-final last season, netting a crucial goal against Bayern Munich in the quarter-final.

The Athletic report that the La Liga club have granted the winger permission to fly to the UK and hold talks with several clubs about a loan move, with Villa reportedly one of these teams.
Despite the Spanish manager knowing the player well, transfer insider Romano told GiveMeSport Villa would face competition from relegation-threatened Everton for the attacker’s services.
Speaking on the duo’s chances, he said: “Unai Emery knows the player so well so he could be an option also for Aston Villa. I’m told there is a chance for him to leave in January. So, all these clubs are speaking to Villarreal.”

Makes perfect sense
Evidently, Aston Villa need attacking reinforcements during this January transfer window, and a move for Danjuma looks to fit the bill in so many ways.
Firstly, and possibly most importantly, the Netherlands international knows Emery’s tactical style of play well and wouldn’t need long to settle into the gameplan Villa now play under the Spaniard.
He would also provide strong backup for Leon Bailey in attack in case his old injury woes come back to haunt him, and Danjuma has also played as one of the midfield four in Emery’s Villarreal side in the past, so don’t count this out.
With the Spanish club allowing Danjuma to jet to England to seal a move to the Premier League, Aston Villa will surely be his number-one target unless a top-six club decides to pay the big bucks and lure him away.
Emery will be holding his breath on this transfer, but his previous experiences with Danjuma surely bode well for a switch to B6.
In other Aston Villa news, Dan Bardell believes Unai Emery must make the most out of a favourable run of fixtures if he hopes to climb up the Premier League table.
