View: Unai Emery given full Aston Villa backing as backroom staff changes continue
Aston Villa continue to distance themselves from the Steven Gerrard era after coach Aaron Danks announced he was leaving the club for Middlesbrough.
Emery was brought in just before the World Cup break and oversaw two wins and a defeat in his three games as manager so far, beating Manchester United and Brighton in the Premier League.
But as the new boss looks to shape the squad and club into his own vision, that means changes are necessary and the coaching units at the club are set to be changed.
Coach Danks took to his personal Twitter account to announce that he would be leaving the club to take up a new opportunity elsewhere, joining Michael Carrick as part of the staff at Championship Middlesbrough.
But while Danks was loved at the club and great at his job, this is another sign that the club are handing all the power over to the new man to do what he sees fits the club best in his image.
The Spanish coach was already handed the longest contract in the club’s managerial history when he signed a deal that lasts for at least four-and-a-half years, and now it seems as though he’s having a clearout of those in the backroom that he doesn’t need.
It shows that the owners certainly feel as though they have their man in charge, and they are trying to give him everything he needs to ensure that he has the best chance of success.

Hopefully we will see the backing continue in the January transfer window, where Emery will need funds to strengthen the team and also be backed if he wants to get rid of anyone too.
Danks was originally offered a new role within the club after his stint as caretaker boss, but has now opted to turn it down and go elsewhere.
He follows goalkeeper coach Neil Cutler out of the door, and a new era is now well and truly upon us.
