Aston Villa loanee Finn Azaz to stay at Plymouth Argyle to receive treatment

Aston Villa loanee Finn Azaz is to stay at Plymouth Argyle to receive treatment for his broken ankle, according to Plymouth Live.

The talented 22-year-old was injured during a fixture with Shrewsbury Town on October 25 2022 in a 2-1 win for Plymouth Argyle.

The report suggests that initial concerns hinted that an operation may be needed, nevertheless, this doesn’t seem to be the case.

“He didn’t have the operation so that was good. He’s in and around, he’s on crutches. His biceps look as though they are getting bigger, he’s doing some upper body work,” said Plymouth head coach Steven Schumacher as quoted by Plymouth Live.

“He’s doing the early stage of his rehab down here. He felt that’s where it would be best for him. We always try and speak to the injured lads.”

Stellar campaign.

Azaz has enjoyed a stellar campaign so far for Argyle, contributing six goals and three assists from a total of 13 starts and five substitute appearances.

It’s a shame the injury has come at such a crucial stage in his development, the attacking midfielder had just hit top form in October.

This included a spectacular goal-of-the-season contender when Plymouth drew 2-2 to Bristol Rovers on 22 October 2022.

Hopefully, the promising youngster can return from this injury setback and hit top form again, he may be useful for the Villans in the future.

Azaz definitely has what it takes to be a big player in the future, he’s been tearing up League Two and One over the past few seasons.

Whether he could make the big step up to the Premier League still remains to be seen, maybe a year in the Championship would suit him better before a return to Villa Park.
