Barcelona plotting move for Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz – report
Barcelona are plotting a move for Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz ahead of the January transfer window, according to Calciomercato Web.
Luiz signed a new and improved long-term deal at Villa Park last month after being heavily linked with a move away from the club.
The report suggests Barcelona are ready to offer a deal “shortly” to try and lure the Brazilian to the Camp Nou from the Premier League.

CMW goes on to claim that current Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie could be used as a bargaining chip in the deal to bring Luiz to Spain.
It suggests a deal could involve the player and a transfer fee, however, this seems a bit far-fetched.

Unlikely.
This whole transfer rumour seems extremely unlikely when you consider Luiz just signed a new bumper contract at Villa the other month.
The glitz and glamour of Barcelona may be hard to ignore but the fact he’s committed to staying at Villa recently suggests he sees his future in England.
Luiz is a top talent so it’s no surprise some of Europe’s biggest clubs want a piece of him but he looks set to play a major role under Unai Emery.
The Brazilian has started all three games under the new Villa boss, highlighting his importance Emery moving forward.
And it’s this very faith that will likely keep him at the club for the foreseeable, Luiz was linked away numerous times because Steven Gerrard wasn’t playing him.
Hopefully, Emery can get the very best out of him, the 24-year-old can be a key cog in Villa’s setup for seasons to come.
