View: Three things learned from Aston Villa win over Brighton
Things continue to go to plan for Unai Emery at Aston Villa as his side picked up an impressive 2-1 victory against Brighton on Sunday.
Two goals from Danny Ings saw the Villans come from behind to take three points back home to the midlands, in what was a feisty affair at the Amex.
Here Villa News takes a look at three things we learnt from the encounter against Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

The dark arts
Finally, we saw Villa stand up to adversity after getting off to a poor start. Emery’s side picked up seven bookings on Sunday (13 November) and actively looked to use good game management and take bookings for the team. It’s a huge part of the game that the best teams master and it’s something the Spaniard will be looking to drill into his players.
Villa had their backs against the wall at times and they looked to take the sting out of the game. Brighton’s frustration began to grow and ultimately they couldn’t find a way back into the game. This is something we could see regularly from Emery’s side.
Impressive Ings
It was good to see Danny Ings back in goalscoring form, but it wasn’t just his two goals which caught the eye. The 30-year-old was a pest all afternoon and looked to press from the front at every single opportunity. As per Whoscored Ings managed three shots and one key pass, along with his two goals.
Villa have struggled for goals at times, but a fit Ings could easily see those problems solved. He could well be like a new signing under Emery.

Energy
Everything Villa did against Brighton was done as a team and with an intensity, we haven’t seen before. They looked to hunt in packs and didn’t give the hosts time to settle on the ball, which ultimately led to the winning goal.
The more time Emery has with this group of players the better they will become at pressing and trying to win the ball back as quickly as possible. The World Cup break will be a vital time for the Spaniard to really stamp his authority on proceedings.
