Tim Sherwood makes Aston Villa relegation prediction after Unai Emery appointment
Tim Sherwood believes that Aston Villa have far too good a squad for them to be relegated from the Premier League.
Unai Emery has taken over from Steven Gerrard and it’s an appointment that has excited the fanbase to no extent.
Discussing their relegation prospects, Sherwood believes that they’re too good to get relegated and that’s not something that will happen under Emery.
Speaking on talkSPORT, he said, “They’re not getting relegated. They’ve got too many good players for that.
“There’s too many bad teams in the league. For me, Bournemouth and Forest are being relegated so there’s one place up for grabs and it won’t be Aston Villa.
“In the future, they need to be looking at top six. That’s what the fans demand.”
Spot on
This Villa side has been assembled spending a lot of money on quality players from all over the world.
Steven Gerrard was thought to be the man who can take this team forward, but unfortunately, with the group of players he was in given, he failed to take them to the next level.
In terms of Emery, he is an experienced coach who has worked with world-class players in the past.
In all honesty, he has worked with players far superior to the ones he has inherited at Villa Park.
Once he walks into the dressing room, the players will know that he is someone who’s won a number of trophies in his career and will instantly respect him.
Unfortunately, for Steven Gerrard, that’s not what happened and if this Villa side is anywhere near a relegation battle, the blame has to be put on the manager and not the players because these players are far too good to be anywhere near the bottom five.
