Aston Villa monitoring situation of Villarreal winger Nicolas Jackson – report

Aston Villa are one of a number of clubs monitoring Villarreal winger Nicolas Jackson’s contract situation, according to the Daily Mail.

Villa will be handed an advantage in the race for the wingers signature, with new boss Unai Emery knowing and managing the player in his last post.

Everton, Newcastle United and Barcelona are also said to be watching the youngster closely, whose contract runs out this summer.

The report suggests Villa will back new boss Emery in January and could sign a pre-contract then as the deal represents favourable economic recruitment.

Villa have struggled domestically this season and will be hoping the Spaniard can kick-start some good times at the club, starting with some good results and signings.

Aston Villa

Interesting.

It’s interesting that Emery is already being linked with moves for players from his old club and suggests Villa may raid Villarreal when the transfer window reopens.

Jackson would provide the Villans with a solid attacking outlet and even though he is still raw, his ceiling is extremely high.

The fact Emery has already coached the youngster bodes well for Villa’s chances in this one and he obviously rates the 21-year-old highly.

Villa have been poor in front of goal for the majority of this campaign and a rebrand of their attacking philosophy will be needed under Emery.

Jackson is the type of talent they should be signing to improve their attack and his attributes could cause havoc to defences in the English top flight.

It would be foolish for Villa not to consider this one, especially when you consider the players’ current contract squabbles.

The youngster contributed to 16 goals last term, scoring seven of them, in 36 appearances in all competitions.

In other Aston Villa news, this player is now surely undroppable from the Villans’ side after being the star man amid a flight of injuries.
