Alan Hutton cannot see problems behind the scenes at Aston Villa

We’re delighted to welcome former Aston Villa full-back Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Villa Park.

Alan Hutton doesn’t believe there are problems behind the scenes at Aston Villa after recent comments from former assistant and now QPR manager Michael Beale.

Beale commented on the sacking of Steven Gerrard (talkSPORT, 22 October) and questioned the way his old employers were being run.

However, Hutton can’t see any glaring issues with the way things are being conducted under the stewardship of Christian Purslow.

“I am not so sure actually, but Michael Beale will have more knowledge as he’s worked inside the building,” Hutton exclusively told Villa News.

“As far as I am aware, the owners are ambitious, they’ve spent money and I know they got a lot of money from the sale of Jack Grealish, but I don’t see so many problems in the backroom of the club.

“Only time will tell with Unai Emery coming in and we will see what will happen with him, but from the outside looking in it doesn’t look like there are massive problems behind the scenes at the club.”

Although Hutton feels there are no issues off the pitch, it’s abundantly clear that there are massive issues on the field for Villa after their latest Premier League defeat.

Aaron Danks’ side were blown away by high-flying Newcastle United at St James’ Park, with Unai Emery now set to take the reigns at Villa Park.

Villa now face Manchester United in back-to-back league and cup fixtures before they travel to Brighton in their last match before the World Cup break.
