Ty Bracey over the moon with Aston Villa appointment of Unai Emery to replace Steven Gerrard
We’re delighted to welcome Villa View host Ty Bracey as our exclusive Aston Villa columnist each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the club…
Unai Emery is a “great appointment” for Aston Villa because he is a proven winner with “massive” credentials, according to Ty Bracey.
The former Villarreal manager was announced on Monday night as the new boss at Villa Park, making a return to the Premier League after being sacked at Arsenal in November 2019, and brings four Europa League winners medals with him among various other accolades.
Bracey is delighted with the move and feels that the ex-Sevilla, Valencia and Paris Saint-Germain man is exactly the right calibre of coach for the club currently.

“It’s a great appointment to be fair,” he said, speaking exclusively to Villa News.
“I said we needed someone proven and elite, and that’s exactly what we’ve got.
“We’ve got someone with a lot of honours under their belt, and when you look at it in terms of the fact that we needed that proven winner you’ve got four Europa Leagues, a Champions League semi-final, seven trophies in two seasons at PSG, three third placed finishes at Valencia.
“You can’t disregard those credentials. It’s massive.
“We need somebody with that identity who’s a winner and that’s exactly what we’ve got, so I’m over the moon.
“You can’t really compare his period at Arsenal with what he’s done elsewhere. He’s proved himself at the highest level.
“He’s had very little budget where he’s been, obviously not including PSG in that, and he’s done well with the tools that he’s had.
“So absolutely no qualms there.”

With how low things had got under Steven Gerrard it was almost a case of literally anyone would feel like an improvement at least initially.
But in Emery a well-known and respected coach who has won European titles has arrived to lift the mood greatly, and tap back into the view during preseason that this club should be pushing into the conversation for qualification for continental competition.
He will need to follow on from the good work Aaron Danks did in overseeing the 4-0 win over Brentford (23 October), and maintain that trajectory for a while to get everyone on board, but if he can do so the season has plenty of time left to be salvaged yet.
In other Aston Villa news, Darren Bent has called the new manager a big statement for the club.
