Brentford boss Thomas Frank speaks out on Aston Villa job rumours after Sunday showdown

Brentford boss Thomas Frank spoke out on rumours linking him to the vacant Aston Villa job after his team were demolished 4-0 by the Villans.

The Brentford head coach is one of several names being linked to Aston Villa after Steven Gerrard’s sacking on Thursday evening.

Frank admitted that Aston Villa is a “great club” but stated he has unfinished business at his current club and that’s what he’s focusing on right now.

“There [are] a lot of rumours out there. I realise this is a great club in many ways, but I have said many times before I am pleased in Brentford and I have unfinished business to do,” said Frank as quoted by the Guardian.

“It’s football. One thing is for sure I have a job I am very glad for. I love Brentford, that is what I am focusing on.”

New beginnings.

Sunday’s win over Brentford was resounding from Aston Villa and a performance fans had been craving to see for a long time.

The victory ended a run of four without a victory in the top flight, their first since Gerrard was sacked on Thursday evening.

Maybe everyone was right when they said Gerrard needed to leave, it seems he was holding the team back from their real potential.

The win moves Villa up to 14th in the Premier League, far off where they want to be but a step in the right direction following a needed dismissal.

Villa’s shackles were well and truly off Sunday afternoon and a team who had been struggling for goals all season looked like scoring at every opportunity.

Their pacy build-up play and ferocious attacking play proved the Villans have the personnel in their squad to cause damage to opponents’ goals.

Whoever takes over at Villa will have some strong weapons at their disposal, ones that need to be utilised if they stand any chance of competing in the English top flight.
