Simon Jordan: Mauricio Pochettino would be lucky to manage Aston Villa
Simon Jordan admits that former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino would be lucky to get the Aston Villa job.
Steven Gerrard is under tremendous pressure to keep his job at the club and the next two games could be decisive for him.
The club have been linked with a number of managers, with Pochettino the highest-profile name being mentioned.

Jordan said on talkSPORT, “If he gets to manage Aston Villa, you what what? He’s bloody lucky because it’s a big Premier League football club that’s waiting to happen,
“If we get Pochettino as he was coming out of Southampton without any of the baggage that’s gone since then and he’s ready and hungry and motivated and hasn’t got polluted and corrupted by reading his own resume – then Villa may be spending some good money on Pochettino.”
Weird one
Jordan is pretty clueless if he thinks that after managing Spurs and PSG he would want to manage at Villa Park.
He’s likely to hold out for a high-profile club that has realistic chances of winning the Champions League.
After Spurs, he may not have won the Champions League at PSG, but they cruised to the league with Kylian Mbappe having the best season of his career.
We do not understand why he would take that job instead of waiting for the likes of Juventus or Bayern Munich who look that they might be available in a few months.
If the Villa hierarchy manage to convince him it’s a major coup but Jordan is absolutely off the mark with his assessment here.
It remains to be seen just how much time Gerrard gets to turn things around as it does seem like it’s slipping away from his grasp.
