Alan Hutton: Aston Villa must get six points from Fulham and Brentford
We’re delighted to welcome former Aston Villa full-back Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Villa Park.
Alan Hutton believes Aston Villa must get six points from their next two fixtures to really ease the mounting pressure on boss Steven Gerrard.
The Villans head to Craven Cottage on Thursday evening (20 October) looking for their first win in three matches, with many of the Villa faithful calling for Gerrard’s time at the club to come to an end.
Hutton feels there’s a growing feeling that the upcoming games away to Fulham and at home to Brentford are now must-wins for the Villans.

“I don’t think the performances have been amazing but if you look at the results before the Chelsea game it’s not been that bad,” Hutton exclusively told Villa News.
“Of course, Steven Gerrard will be targeting the next two games Fulham and Brentford for six points and of course the fans will be as well, and with that obviously comes a little bit of pressure.
“Everybody is now looking at these two games and thinking they must win, it’s about the players going out and being confident in their own ability to go and get two massive results.
“If they can go out and do that it will really kick them on before the break for the World Cup.”

Gerrard’s team certainly have a chance to really get their season back on track against a Fulham side who have been conceding a lot of goals of late.
If they fail to pick up six points over their next two fixtures, the writing could well be on the wall for Gerrard with the World Cup break approaching.
