Danny Ings cannot believe that Aston Villa did not score against Chelsea

Danny Ings cannot believe that Aston Villa did not score in their 2-0 defeat against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon (16 October).

The Villans striker had a great chance among numerous shots on goal, but Kepa was on top form to somehow keep the home side at bay at Villa Park.

Steven Gerrard was proud of his side but admitted that the results need to start coming quickly with pressure building in the Premier League.

Speaking after the game to the official Aston Villa website, Ings shared his thoughts on the game and why it just didn’t fall for his side.

“It’s always tough when you come off the pitch without scoring when you’ve had chances,” he said. “They’re just not going in for us at the moment.

“Credit to their ‘keeper, I thought he kept them in the game. My header and JJ’s strike were magnificent saves. If they go in, it’s a different game.

“That’s our luck at the moment but you have to keep fighting together and keep pushing.”

Aston Villa

Annoying.

After labouring through numerous performances without creating any real chances and looking as sluggish as ever, it all changed over the weekend.

But, as is their luck, Aston Villa were met by a keeper in the best form of his life after years of ridicule in the Premier League for his performances.

Ings is one of those who is going to have to stand up and be counted though, with the club relying on him to stick these chances away when they come his way.

Gerrard will want his strikers to start firing, but also his midfielders to chip in with more creativity and goals themselves, making it a team effort.

Thankfully, there were many more positives to take given that it was only a Tyrone Mings mistake that took the game away from Villa, who will already be looking forward.

Goals are the question, Villa need to find the answer to that and quickly.
