Alan Hutton: Leon Bailey agent should stay quiet after Aston Villa comments
We’re delighted to welcome former Aston Villa full-back Alan Hutton as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Villa Park
Alan Hutton feels that Leon Bailey’s agent should’ve remained quiet after comments regarding the Jamaican’s form under Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa.
The 25-year-old’s agent Craig Butler suggested (Interview with Jamaica Gleaner, 8 October) Gerrard is only now noticing the value of the wide man.
However, Hutton says that if it was his agent he would’ve told him to be quiet and that the Jamaican should be allowed to perform without outside comments.

“I just don’t think agents need to say anything like that If I’m totally honest,” Hutton exclusively told Villa News.
“If it was my agent I would tell him to be quiet. He had a slow start after coming with a big reputation and I think all Villa fans were expecting him to come in and hit the ground running.
“Of course, he’s had niggling injuries which is hard for him coming into a new country but we’ve seen flashes of what he’s capable of. He’s got electric pace, he comes in from the right on his left foot and he can score really good goals and make things happen.
“Again consistency we want to see it happen more often and over the 90 minutes and that’s what Gerrard wants from all of his attacking players.
“But again Agents don’t need to say anything and just allow the player to work, concentrate and do what he’s best at.”

Bailey has played nine games in the 2022/23 season managing two goals and one assist after a disappointing first season at Villa Park.
The 25-year-old will be looking to add to his goal tally as Villa travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on Sunday (16 October).
