Ashley Young: Aston Villa need to start killing games

Ashley Young has called on his Aston Villa teammates to start killing games after they drew 1-1 against Nottingham Forest on Monday.

Both managers Steven Gerrard and Steve Cooper went into the game with tremendous pressure on their shoulders.

At full time, it was the latter who would’ve been the happiest as Villa dominated the game but did not take their chances to win.

Young said, via The Mirror, “It feels like a loss and is definitely two points dropped. There is a lot of frustration in the dressing room.

“I would have enjoyed the goal a lot more if we had gone on to win the game. We need that killer instinct to go and win the game. When we get chances we need to kill off teams and score more goals.”

Spot on

It’s surprising that will all the attacking prowess Villa have, Young is the one who’s stepping up to score the goals.

Against Leeds as well, the Birmingham outfit dominated the game from start to end and should’ve beaten them quite comfortably.

Villa have dropped four very winnable points that would’ve put them in the top half of the Premier League.

All’s not lost yet but something needs to change and it needs to change quickly.

Gerrard has to take matters into his own hands and make the big calls to axe key players like Ollie Watkins and Philippe Coutinho.

Both of them have been woeful in the past few weeks and starting the likes of Cameron Archer could be just what Villa need right now.
