View: Steven Gerrard must repair broken bridge with Frederic Guilbert to avoid Aston Villa crisis
Aston Villa are somewhat down to the barebones in defence with injuries rife at Bodymoor but there is an answer to their problems.
Over the summer, Steven Gerrard was hoping to sell Frederic Guilbert with the Frenchman not impressing the boss in his time at the club but he did not get a move.
He was then removed from the club’s official website squad page which sparked a reaction on Twitter from the man himself.
“These last few weeks have been very hard psychologically, a lot of doubts, a lot of disappointments,” he said. “Apparently that’s the job!!! Today I blame the blow but tomorrow I will be stronger. I will come back very soon and stronger.”
He was even ordered to train with the Under-21s side but Gerrard could now do with repairing his damaged relationship with Guilbert so he can relax a little regarding the injury crisis in defence.
Matty Cash has been out of action recently but could return against Nottingham Forest on Monday while Lucas Digne faces a long time out of action and Ludwig Augustinsson could also be on the treatment table for some time.

Asley Young has been able to fill the void so far but he is 37 years of age and he will soon need a rest with a hectic schedule upcoming before the World Cup break in November.
Guilbert would be content to feature from the bench and start the odd game at Aston Villa if the manager can swallow his pride and make up for what he did last season and this summer.
He won’t revolutionise the team but he will ensure that there are no sudden holes in the team with nobody available to fill them.
In other Aston Villa news, this teenage striker is making waves on the international stage and he could be set for big things at Villa Park.
