Matt Law blasts Steven Gerrard after Aston Villa 0-0 draw vs Leeds United
Journalist Matt Law has blasted Steven Gerrard after a 0-0 draw with Leeds, saying Aston Villa have made “no improvement”.
Villa were held to a goalless draw at Elland Road despite the home team being down to ten men for 40 minutes of the second half, meaning the club have just two wins from eight league games this season.
And Law, who writes for The Telegraph and is an avid Villa fan, took to social media to vent at the lack of progress under the manager who replaced Dean Smith after he was accused of doing the same a year ago.

“Dean Smith’s Villa weren’t any better by the time he was sacked but I much preferred watching them and it’s certainly no better now,” he said. “Don’t see any progress or plan at all – maybe I’m missing something.”
He also listed a host of things that the club are struggling with currently, including playing Philippe Coutinho over Emi Buendia and not giving Cameron Archer a chance.
Shocking
He’s just said what we’re all thinking, and usually when someone with a voice does that it opens up the floodgates for others to follow behind.
Gerrard has been given millions to spend since taking over and a chance to take the side up to the next level, but he hasn’t delivered after what seemed like an initial promising start.
At what point do the board take note that the experiment of hiring an unproven Premier League manager isn’t working and make a decision to replace him before it’s too late?
We’re still early enough in the season that a solid run of form can lead to better things come May, but with Gerrard set in his ways and with his favourites in the side it’s unlikely that will come under him.
Something needs to be done and urgently to stop this arrest the club is under and this illusion that Gerrard is the answer must end.
