Steven Gerrard is ‘comfortable’ as Aston Villa boss despite mounting pressure – Ashley Preece
Despite the building pressure on Steven Gerrard, journalist Ashley Preece believes there’s no danger that he’ll be sacked as Aston Villa boss.
Aston Villa invested over the summer, but have slumped to 15th at the start of the Premier League season, with performances under Gerrard looking unconvincing.
Inevitably, fingers have been pointed his way and his job has suddenly been put under the spotlight.

A vital 1-0 win over Southampton before the international break crucially afforded him more time, and journalist Preece – published by Birmingham Live – insists he’s currently “comfortable” in his role.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, Preece said: “Villa is an attractive club for managers, they spend a lot of money in the transfer window.
“The owners are prepared to give managers cash to shape the squad, but I can’t see [Gerrard getting sacked] at the moment. I think Gerrard’s position is comfortable at present, off the back of the last two results.”
Not too comfortable
If it didn’t already, the international break has highlighted just how vital the Southampton victory was for Villa.
Over the break, things have gotten even tougher for Gerrard’s side, with a number of injuries now leaving the squad stretched ahead of a busy schedule of games.

Just as it seemed the club would be able to take a break and come back refreshed and ready to build some momentum, Gerrard is on the back foot again and is without some key players.
Furthermore, Villa’s next two games are tough trips to Leeds United and Nottingham Forest. With the team yet to record an away win this season, it’ll be a huge test for Gerrard’s side.
Following on from that is an equally tough match against Chelsea at Villa Park. It’s crucial that Villa get at least something out of those next three games, otherwise, Gerrard suddenly won’t be so comfortable anymore.
