January exit on cards for Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Sanson after failed summer move – report
Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Sanson reportedly looks like he’s heading for the exit door in the January transfer window.
According to Birmingham Live journalist Ashley Preece, Steven Gerrard green-lit his exit in the summer but he failed to get his move.
However, it seems increasingly likely that the 28-year-old will part ways with the club in the winter.

Preece told Give Me Sport [24 September], “Yes, I think it’s all looking towards that. [January exit]
“Gerrard gave him the green light to go out and find a new club in the summer window, but a move wasn’t forthcoming. I think he will head out.”
Makes sense
Sanson clearly has not lived up to the billing at Villa Park and the time to offload him has now arrived.
He moved to Villa Park last summer after many successful seasons in Ligue 1.
However, he quickly realised, as did many others who followed the same trajectory, that the Premier League is a completely different ball game.
Also, Villa have signed a number of midfielders recently so he’s fallen further down the pecking order and it’s better to cash in while they still can.
There surely will be some interest in France for his services so they can offer him to clubs in Ligue 1.
As for his time in Birmingham, it’s fair to say that his days are numbered and we will be really surprised if he stays on at the club beyond the January window.
