Coaching staff changes big reason for poor start of Aston Villa this season – Steven Gerrard
Steven Gerrard has revealed that changing in the coaching staff has hampered the progress of Aston Villa this season.
The Villans had a difficult start to their campaign but recent results have turned things slightly in their favour, especially after a 1-0 win against Southampton.
The Aston Villa manager was quoted in a report by Express & Star where he stated that sometimes, it is better to stop and analyse what’s going wrong.

“The change of coach [Michael Beale leaving to become QPR’s new manager] wasn’t ideal, it never is,” he said.
“You lose a coach you have worked so long with, that you are so comfortable around. Then we bring another top coach in who wants to move forward quickly.
“Who wants to take the team where everyone sees it. I am the same, I want to move forward just as quickly.
“Sometimes you have to stop and think and analyse. Sometimes it takes maybe a step back or a bit more patience to get where you want to. If it means we have to do that, we will do it. Where we have been in the league is not where we want to be.”

Big weeks ahead
Aston Villa entered the season hoping they would improve last campaign’s numbers where they finished on the 14th position in the league table.
The first few weeks were nothing short of a horror dream but recent results have once again given some hope to the Villa Park-faithful for the rest of the campaign.
The encouraging part for Gerrard is that his team is finally looking a lot tougher to beat, something that was not the case in the beginning of the season.
The fans will be hoping that the side will continue their momentum of recent performances in the matches to come where the focus will be once again to finish in the top-10 this year.
Next up for Villa is a tough one against Leeds United at Elland Road. The Whites have been so far undefeated while playing at home and have already secured a famous 3-0 win against Chelsea earlier in the Premier League fixture at the same venue.
