Ezri Konsa raves about Aston Villa teammate Leon Bailey

Ezri Konsa has showered praise on Aston Villa teammate Leon Bailey, saying that he is yet to hit his best form.

Villa drew 1-1 against Manchester City last weekend, where Konsa was superb at the back.

Bailey scored a spectacular goal in the match to earn Villa a respectable draw against Pep Guardiola’s side.

“The best is yet to come from him. He knows himself what he has to do to really kick on and show the quality he has,” said Konsa, as quoted by Express and Star.

“On Saturday, he really worked hard for the team. It is not just on the ball but the running off the ball, working hard and tracking back. He got the goal his performance deserved. I think it will mean a lot for him. Last season was a difficult one for him, in and out of the team with injuries and stuff. But he has really kicked on this season and showed his qualities and on Saturday, he saved us.

“If you know football, you follow football and have seen the Bundesliga, you see what the qualities he possessed before coming here. If we get that from him in the Premier League, it will be a massive help for us.”

Positives

It looked like City would grab all three points after Villa’s resistance was broken when summer signing Erling Haaland scored in the 50th minute, with Kevin de Bruyne producing a moment of brilliance.

However, Bailey scored a superb goal in the 74th minute, and the result should give Villa a lot of confidence.

Bailey joined Villa from Bayer Leverkusen for £25million in August last year, and so far he has done well.

He has got loads of quality, and Steven Gerrard needs him to produce top-quality performances on regular basis.

Villa have made a stuttering start to the season, and it seemed like Gerrard is under a lot of pressure.

They are without a win in their last four Premier League games, and many feel that the club should be doing a lot better with the resources they have.

Villa now need to carry the confidence forward and grab wins against Leicester City and Southampton in their next two games.
