Steven Gerrard does not regret joining Aston Villa – Darren Bent

Darren Bent believes that Steven Gerrard does not regret leaving Rangers despite having a hard time at Aston Villa in the premier League.

The former Liverpool midfielder left the Gers and joined the Villans in November last year to replace Dean Smith in the dug out at Villa Park.

Bent, while talking to talkSPORT, suggested that Gerrard achieved whatever he had to during his time with Rangers.

“I don’t think he’ll have any regrets,” he said.

“I think he was there for three years at Rangers. He done what he needed to do when he went the whole season unbeaten, won a trophy so I don’t think he looks back and think, I wish I was still there. I really don’t.”

Big test

Gerrard arrived at Villa with a lot of hopes and excitement where the fans would’ve been hoping to see improvement in results than the one they were having during the reign of Smith.

However, things have been far from perfect as the side has been struggling for quiet some time now, raising concerns about the future of the former Rangers manager.

After the first three matches, Villa have only registered three points with only win coming against Everton and are currently placed on the 13th spot in the league table.

To make things even worse, Villa’s next two matches are up against table-toppers Arsenal and defending champions Manchester City which means that there is a strong possible that the side will have same number of points after five matches as well.

If results panned out to be that way, the pressure will surely mount on Gerrard and it is imperative that he must galvanize his troops and try to get a positive result in one of those two games.
